Write your wish in your own language

A wish in Maa's own language often means the most. The live board shows every script, from Devanagari to Tamil and Bengali, in the same glowing textures as English. All you need is a keyboard for your language, and most phones already have one built in.

Set up a keyboard for your language
The easiest way is a "transliteration" keyboard: you type the sound in English letters, such as janmdin, and pick जन्मदिन from the suggestions. The menu names differ a little between phones and versions, but these are the usual steps.
Android phones (Gboard)
- Open any text box so the keyboard appears, then tap the settings (gear) icon, or open Gboard from your phone's Settings.
- Go to Languages and tap Add keyboard.
- Search for your language, for example Hindi, and choose a layout. The one that shows abc → हिन्दी lets you type in English letters.
- Tap Done. Switch between languages with the globe key or by pressing and holding the space bar.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
- Tap Add New Keyboard and choose your language, for example Hindi.
- For Hindi, pick Transliteration to type in English letters, or Devanagari for the native layout.
- Switch keyboards with the globe key while typing.
Windows and Mac computers
On Windows, add the language under Settings → Time & language → Language & region, then choose a keyboard for it (a phonetic keyboard types by sound). On a Mac, go to System Settings → Keyboard → Text Input, edit your input sources and add your language (Hindi offers a Transliteration option).
Use the board's language picker
In the board's controls, the language menu (English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Spanish, French, German, Chinese and Japanese) shows a keyboard tip and quick words in that script, such as नमस्ते, शुभकामनाएं or வணக்கம். Tap a quick word to add it to your message, then finish typing with your keyboard.
Tips for text that reads well on the big screen
- Check names carefully. Names are easy to misspell in another script, so read them back once more before you post.
- Mixing is fine. "जन्मदिन मुबारक Riya! 🎂" reads beautifully.
- Keep lines short. The board splits text longer than about 50 letters over several lines.
- Pick a bold texture. Gold, Fire and Neon textures keep curly scripts easy to read from a distance.
- Boxes instead of letters? Very rarely, an old device doesn't have a font for a script and shows empty boxes. Phones and computers from the last few years show all of these languages.
